Project Calendar[Global Warming]Coordinating the days that schools collect stomata density data creates a large set of comparable data. The large data set has component of space, since participating schools are spread out all over the world, and time, since we collect data over several days and months. There are, however, no limits on how or where you collect data. You may collect and submit data at any time. KanCRN Global Warming collaborative data collection using stomatal densities occurs during the third full week in September each year ( September 20-26, 1998). While the leaves need to be collected during this period, they can be dried and pressed for later use. The protocol can be done on dried leaves at any point in the year. The sample date when you submit data should be for the the day that the leaves were collected and not on the day the protocol was run. Rainfall data can be obtained locally or from a weather archieve. One of the best sources of information on the web is Purdue University's Weather Archive at: http://wxp.atms.purdue.edu/surface/index.html.
